How Dharamshila Rahat is different from our Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital?

Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital is the first unit of our NGO i.e. Dharamshila Cancer Foundation And Research Centre (DCFRC), and Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre is the second unit of our NGO.

Our focus at Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital is to cure diseases. At Dharamshila Rahat Medical Centre, our focus is on managing serious, life-limiting, and incurable diseases such as late-stage cancer, obstructive lung diseases, end-stage heart, liver, and kidney failure, dementia, parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, alzheimer's diseases, advanced neurological disease like strokes and disabilities.

At Dharamshila Rahat, we provide dedicated, patient-centric, supportive, and palliative care in a vibrant environment, to improve the quality of life of patients, by relieving their pain and other distressing physical symptoms. Additionally, we address the emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual problems of patients and their families, which is not possible at our superspeciality hospital.

At Dharamshila Rahat, we have a dedicated team of palliative care specialists, trained palliative care nurses, nursing assistants, psychologists, psychiatrists, deaddiction specialists, other specialists & superspecialists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, social workers, and spiritual teachers to ensure holistic healing. The environment of this palliative care center is very positive, vibrant, peaceful, compassionate, and loving. We have a holistic approach to treat the patients by addressing all the issues of the patients and their families. This ensures an improved quality of life by making them symptom-free, comfortable, and self-reliant so that they can live with dignity for months to years to decades. At Rahat Center, family members are also allowed to visit at any time of the day, and the best part of this dedicated palliative care centre is that it includes a lot of mindful activities like meditation, yoga, music therapy, and acts as per the personal spiritual and religious beliefs of patients and family members, ensuring that the dignity of life is maintained.

Symptoms requiring Palliative Care:

Physical Symptoms: Severe pain, breathlessness, fatigue, pressure symptoms, bed sores, lymphedema, bleeding, difficulty in eating, swallowing, immobility, jaundice, etc.
Psychological Symptoms: Disruption of the sensitive balance between the mind and body, unpredictability of the future, depression, difficulty in finding someone confidential to talk to, loneliness, getting little support from the family and others, fear of physical suffering and death, stigma due to disfigurement, loss of self-esteem, and suicidal thoughts.

We also train family physicians, nurses, and family members to provide palliative care to patients at home after reliving their acute distressing symptoms and discharging them.

However, they cater to different needs of the patients depending on the stage and condition of the disease.
