Non availability of dedicated Palliative Care for my father (stage IV Cancer), mother (Chronic Pulmonary Disease), my brother (Chronic Neurogenic Pain) and lakhs of other incurable patients, was a very sad and disheartening experience. Most main stream tertiary hospitals are over crowded with people requiring CURATIVE AND ACUTE CARE . Superspecialists are hard pressed for time and are unable to devote time to understand and address the emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs of these patients and their families. Most Patients and their families feel abandoned and are forced to live a painful distressing life.
